Shoreditch Library workshop with Abigail Reynolds

In April 2018, PEER began a partnership with Shoreditch Library with Abigail Reynolds’ three-way exhibition, The Universal Now and Further Episodes. The library was home to a new two-screen film installation, Lost Libraries (2018) that draws on her extraordinary five-month journey undertaken as the recipient of BMW’s Art Journey Prize  between 2016 and 2017. It was situated with maps, still images and books specially selected from Shoreditch Library’s own collection and accompanied by Reynolds’ book, also called Lost Libraries, which was published in December 2017 by Hatje Cantz.

As part of the programme for the exhibition, a talk was held at Shoreditch Library with Abigail Reynolds, introduced by library manager David Nwankwo-Ntah, to discuss her new film installation in the broader context of the role and function of libraries in the UK today.

We also held a free origami workshop with Abigail at the library, inspired by the ‘ghost money’ featured in the film.
