The Bugs print portfolio was produced in 2000 to raise funds to provide scholarships for post-graduated students. Working in partnership with Peer, the sale of the portfolios is shared between Byam Shaw and Peer, the acclaimed independent London-based arts organisation.
It is a remarkable collection of works by ten of Britain’s most respected artists. Six of the ten artists, Fiona Banner, Tacita Dean, Peter Doig, Anya Gallaccio, Cornelia Parker and Yinka Shonibare have been previously nominated for the Turner Prize and Mark Wallinger won it in 2007.
The artists generously responded to an invitaiton from the Principal of the School, Alister Warman, to make work on the theme of bugs. The prints they have contributed range in technique from etching and photography to new digital media, and, in Mark Wallinger’s case, a potato print. The edition size is 90 and they are presented in a handmade silkscreened box portolio measuring 43.2 x 33 cms.
To date, this portfolio has been acquired into many important private and public collections, including Tate, Arts Council Collection and The Contemporary Art Society.
The price for the set of all 10 prints is £3,250 plus postage and packaging .
